On today's episode of digital champions, I'm talking about how to grow your social media following.
What are the most effective ways to grow your social media following and this works for all the platforms, is personally directly inviting people to follow your channels. This can be very effective, I don't necessarily recommend that you directly invite them to every single one of your channels. You can, it may work, but it's more effective if you do one at a time.
You send out to some friends, "Hey, I'm really looking to build my YouTube subscribers, can you please subscribe?" Now you send out some Facebook messages, "Hey, I'm looking to grow my Facebook page, would you mind subscribing?"
The reason why a personal invite is so effective, it's 'cause you're taking the time to invite them and it's personal, and it's a lot harder to say no and it's not a big ask. To ask somebody to follow your page is a simple thing that they can do. And if you took the time to invite them personally to follow your page, it's likely that they're gonna say yes.
Now, I understand this is time-consuming, and that's why it is one of the more difficult things to do because of that, but it also has the highest level of conversion and getting people to accept. So, think about that, think about how you may be able to incorporate this into your weekly strategy of just steadily doing this to grow certain channels that you have.
When it comes to Facebook, one of the most simple things you can do, is just invite all of your friends to follow your page. Now, the success rate is definitely lower in this strategy, but it can be very effective if you don't abuse it and you don't just keep inviting people. Every time you get a new friend and invite somebody, I don't necessarily recommend that, but it's something that you should do periodically.
This is also why it's important to grow your personal page because the more friends you grow in your personal page, it will allow you to then easily invite more people to then following your business page.
When it comes to getting more Instagram followers, there's a few things that you can do but one thing that I recommend you definitely don't do, and that is do not buy followers. It's one of the most common mistakes I see where somebody has got upwards of 10, 20,000 followers but they're getting like 20 likes on their post. That's not gonna be an effective strategy, it actually hurts the algorithm.
Many people make this mistake because they love the vanity numbers, they love to get more followers 'cause it makes them feel better, but it's gonna hurt you in the long run. Yes, when you have 10, 000 followers on Instagram, it allows you to do things like include links into your stories, that's one thing that can be nice about having more followers.
I'm a strong believer in having strong followers and not just strength in numbers, it's better to have more followers that are actually going to engage with your content than it is just to have more numbers. That engagement is key, and you wanna focus on those who are engaging with your content.
Which leads to my next point, with advertising through Facebook and Instagram. This is one of the best ways to get more followers, specifically on Facebook, when somebody likes one of your pages or likes one of your videos or posts that you're spending money on, it then allows you to invite them to follow your page.
The reason why this is one of the most effective strategies, is because they're engaging with your page, which is exactly what you want, the algorithms like engagement. So by inviting somebody who's already engaged to follow your page, it's likely that they're going to continue to engage with your page in the future. It is so valuable because this will allow you to continue to grow your audience specifically with people who are already engaging.
When it comes to growing your LinkedIn business page following, there are some limitations that you have. And one thing is, you can only invite 100 people per month. And it only allows you to do 25 people per week. So this is something that you're gonna wanna do periodically, regularly, it's likely that you have more than 100 connections. So it's gonna take time to be able to grow and invite more people to following your page. But this has been very effective because this goes to where I started where you're individually selecting who you would like to follow your page.
So, that individual aspect of it is always gonna get a higher return. When I started doing this strategy, my business page on LinkedIn started growing and growing and growing. This is very effective.
I hope these tips help, it's very important to come from a growth mindset, the same way that we're trying to grow our business, we should be trying to grow our followers.
The important thing as I've mentioned before is that they're good followers. People that engage, people that are potential customers, don't just try and get followers to get more followers. It's not gonna be effective, it's not gonna be good for your business, but the more that we can grow a real audience and do it slow and steady, it's gonna be much more effective than trying to cheat your way to the top.
